Stone Carving Workshop - Stone Masonry

0.00

There is no doubt that Snæfellsjökull and the surrounding area has been a great inspiration to artists through many centuries. That has inspired the volcanologist Haraldur Sigurðsson, who is also passionate about art, to publish that history in a book and now the German sculptor Gerhard König to offer workshops in stone carving. The local authorities have also decided to dedicate Stapagil canyon to creativity, a place where people seek inspiration in this powerful environment. Short sightseeing from Arnarstapi and then hands on creativity.

The price goes with minimum 3 persons signed up for the workshop. With fewer we consider it as a private guided tour and workshop. - You can book and we will pay you back if we don‘t get the minimum for the event.

In Stapagil (gil = a canyon) you can work on many different types of stones in origin, feature, size and shape. You will be lead through a landscape of its own where you awake life through your imagination. – We start the journey with an introduction 10 am in Samkomuhúsið (the community house) in Arnarstapi before we take to the stone statue of the giant Bárður Snæfellsás. We finish 6 hours later (4 pm) in Samkomuhúsið showing with pride the inspiration you got from Stapagil, the glacier and the hidden forces.
