Cancellations due to Covid-19

We at Go West know that times are difficult for us and for you!

With this in mind, we are offering full refunds for all of those with travel affected by the Covid-19 virus. If you would prefer to reschedule for a later date, that would be excellent and can be done at no extra charge but if you would like a refund please do send us an email with your name and booking reference. It would be appreciated if you could let us know at least 48 hours before your tour, just so that we can organize this with our team.

Cancellations due to weather / unforseen circumstances

Tours will be rescheduled/cancelled if weather conditions become unsuitable.

If Go West cancels a tour, we will do our best to reschedule your booking for a day/time with more suitable conditions. Rescheduling is free of charge and if a client/ Go West are unable to reschedule a tour then clients are entitled to a full refund.

The same cancellation/refund policy applies to cancellations due to other unforseen circumstances out of Go West's control.

It is the clients responsibility to check their phone/email for notifications of cancellations/changes on a scheduled tour. These cancellations/changes can occur from 48 - 12 hours before tour departure.

Cancellations during the operation of a tour

A Go West Guide may decide to cancel the tour, for the entire group, if they believe that an individual client will not be able to safely complete the tour or if weather conditions worsen.

A cancellation during the operation of a tour is most likely during our more strenous activities, such as the SNÆFELLSJÖKULL GLACIER HIKE - FULL DAY SUMMIT HIKE / MIDNIGHT SUMMIT HIKE. Clients are notified on the website that the hikes are demanding and require a good level of fitness. Go West makes the effort to ensure that tour participants are aware of the tour difficulties but is not responsible for judging the level of fitness of individual clients. Individual fitness is highly variable and the perception of "good fitness" differs between individuals.

Go West cannot be held responsible for cancellations during the operation of a tour that have occurred due to the safety/fitness of individuals, weather conditions or other unforseen circumstances.

Clients are entitled to a 50% refund if a tour is cancelled during its operation.

Cancellations made by clients on scheduled day / half-day tours

We try our hardest to accommodate our client needs but as a smaller company with limited guides, each reserved space on a tour is valuable. Cancellations close to tour departure often mean that another client misses out on the chance of booking with us. Please take this into consideration with regards to our cancellations policy.

48 hours before tour departure: Bookings can be rescheduled free of charge and full refunds will be issued for cancellations.

24 hours before tour departure: Bookings can be rescheduled with a 5% rescheduling fee (to paid upon arrival via card or cash) and 50% refunds will be issued for cancellations.

12 hours before tour departure: Bookings can be rescheduled with a 10% rescheduling fee (to paid upon arrival via card or cash). Refunds will not be issued for cancellations.

RESTRICTIONS

The following restrictions apply to children wishing to join our trips and if children are under age, authorization to participate has to be confirmed by a parent/guardian.

Snæfellsjökull Summit hikes: The age limit is 12 years old. Snæfell mountain beginner hike: The age limit is 8 years old.

Clients have to be physically fit to participate in the activities for which they have enrolled, and must inform the guide of any medical conditions and/or previous injuries that may affect their ability during the tour.

If participants are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during the time of the tour, Go West reserves the right to refuse participation in the tour and no refund will be issued.

Clothing

Appropriate footwear and suitable outdoor clothing must be worn at all times. We reserve the right to refuse clients if not correctly equipped since this will put all clients at risk. In case of refusal, a refund will not be possible.

Travel Insurance

We encourage clients to have their own travel and cancellation insurance.

LIABILITY

No responsibility is accepted for losses, expenses due to delays, changes of flights, closed roads or other services or because of strikes, accidents, sickness, damage, negligence, weather, changes in bus schedules, or other similar causes. Go West does not adopt responsibility for accidents/death that can be traced to the participant´s negligence, acts of third parties or exterior circumstances such as weather, natural occurrences or other similar causes.

Special requests

Any special requested should be made at the time of booking. Please note that provision of special requests cannot be guaranteed but Go West will make efforts to ensure special requirements wherever possible.

Booking and prices for unscheduled tours

  • Tours and services, that are not scheduled in our online booking platfrom, can be ordered via e-mail and telephone. Within 7 working days, an email confirmation and invoice will be sent back to the client.
  • It is the client's responsibility to ensure that information of the invoice is correct. What is included in the price will be quoted on the invoice. Prices are listed in ISK (Icelandic Krona)unless otherwise agreed.

INTERNATIONAL PAYMENTS

Payments are to be made to:

Payments must be made by bank transfer accompanied by the Go West Booking Reference number. All costs of transmitting payment to Go West must be borne by the sender. Go West will not accept any charges incurred by the sender.

Accommodation on Multi-day activities

If a customer chooses another accommodation than what is described in a tour itinerary it must be ordered and paid for separately. The standard of our accommodation can vary from camping in tents to luxury private hotel room.

Disclaimer on Multi-day activities

Go West takes subject to minor changes in tour programs. This can apply to the choice of dates, places to eat, routes, etc. Any changes will not reduce the quality of the tours. It can also occur changes in prices and conditions as a result of currency fluctuations or taxes and fees that are difficult to predict.
